Session 5: What is the Local Church?
Crossroads isn't just a place you attend. It's a body you belong to.
This session steps back and asks a bigger question: what is the church, actually? We'll look at the difference between the universal church — every believer everywhere, across every denomination — and the local church, which is where that universal family actually gets lived out, week to week, face to face.
We'll walk through how Crossroads is governed — we're nondenominational, self-governing, and led by a team of elders — and what that leadership structure actually looks like in practice: Jesus as the head, elders as shepherds, and servant leaders doing the hands-on work of ministry.
This is also where we introduce the three values that shape everything Crossroads does: Belonging, Generosity, and Oneness. We spend the next three sessions unpacking each one, but this is where you first hear why they matter.
