Session 1: Sin and God's Justice and Mercy
You can't understand grace until you understand what it's covering.
Before we talk about salvation, we have to talk about why we need it. This session starts at the beginning — literally, in Genesis — looking at why God made us, what it means to be made in His image, and how sin broke that. Not sin as a vague idea, but sin as it actually is: anything in us that's out of step with who God is and how He designed us to live.
We'll walk through where sin comes from, how it affects everything — our relationship with God, with each other, with the world — and why no amount of effort on our part can fix it. This isn't meant to leave you stuck in guilt. It's meant to set up everything that comes next. You can't fully receive mercy until you understand exactly what you needed mercy for.
